- Ruby: [footsteps, slow clap] ... Impressive running, girl. I could barely keep up. You mush have a killer bod under those cheap clothes you're wearing.
- Meg Masters: Who... [pant, pant] Who are you?
- Ruby: I'm a friend of you morther's...
- Meg Masters: [gaps, footsteps] You're... You're one of them?
- Ruby: Them? [pause] Oh, the cult? [scoff] No, dear... I don't do that whole cult thing.
- Meg Masters: But- I don't understand... [pant, pant] M- My mother's whole life was the Church of Blood... [pant] She didn't have normal friends.
- Ruby: [scoff, chuckle, footsteps] Oh, honey... I'm not normal. [pause, giggle] And I wasn't talking about that mother.
- Meg Masters: What? [pause] I... I don't understand.
- Ruby: I'm friends with your real mother. [chuckle] Not the meat-suit she was wearing when she made you.
- Meg Masters: [gasp] You're one of them!
- Ruby: Them? Girl, enough with the pronouns...
- Meg Masters: You're a demon!
- Ruby: I prefer "Infernal" but yeah... Guilty as charged. [chuckle]
- Meg Masters: [footsteps] ...
- Ruby: Where are you going?
- Meg Masters: ... [rapid footsteps]
- Ruby: [sigh] Not so fast. [infernal thrum, doors slam shut: 2 instances]
- Meg Masters: [body slamming into door, door rattling, whimper] Let me out! [hands slapping door] Somebody help! [bam, bam] Please!
- Ruby: Relax... I'm not going to kill you.
- Meg Masters: ... [silence: 4.2 seconds] You're not?
- Ruby: No. [giggle] I already feel bad you squishy folks get such short lives to begin with. [sigh] I'd feel bad if I ended yours so soon.
- Meg Masters: ... Is this a joke?
- Ruby: [chuckle] Life is a joke in and of itself... but no. I'm telling you the truth.
- Meg Masters: A demon with a conscience? [scoff]
- Ruby: Hey, easy... Words hurt, girl. [chuckle]
- Meg Masters: If... If you don't want to kill me, then what do you want with me?
- Ruby: What do I want with you? [pause] Nothing.
- Meg Masters: Then why were you folowing me?
- Ruby: I was doing a favor.
- Meg Masters: A favor...
- Ruby: Yeah.
- Meg Masters: What kind of favor?
- Ruby: Oh, I don't know. [pause, chuckle] I might know something about who left that cell phone in your room back at the compound. I might know about those late night texts you got with the instructions. I may have had something to do with all those unlocked doors that allowed you to escape. Maybe I arranged for the car with the keys inside, the airline tickets, the forged travel documents... You get the idea.
- Meg Masters: You helped me escape? But... Why? [pause] And why bring me here? To all this chaos?
- Ruby: I don't know the details.
- Meg Masters: What? You planned this! [scoff] You're a demon who helped me escape a cult... and then you bring me to a city besieged by demons hoursafter my plane lands... and you expect me to believe this is all just some... coincidence?!
- Ruby: [scoff, chuckle] Oh, hell no... I don't think you're stupid, kid. Even with my excellent plan to bust you out, you still had to have brains and guts to get this far. I'm actually impressed. You did really well for a measly mortal.
- Meg Masters: This was your plan! You brought me here! Why?
- Ruby: Like I said, it was a favor...
- Meg Masters: And you have nothing to do with the demons rampaging all around us?
- Ruby: Nope.
- Meg Masters: Who did you do this favor for exactly?
- Ruby: A friend...
- Meg Masters: [gasp] You... You said my mother was your friend...
- Ruby: You know what, kid? I'm going to do a favor for you, too. I'll be sure to ask her what's going on with this demon block party for you.
- Meg Masters: She's here?
- Ruby: Yeah, she's actually right behind you.
- Meg Masters: What?! [feet shuffling]
- [smoke whirling, infernal hiss]
- Meg Masters/Naamah: !!! [scram, gagging retch, smoke whirling, cough, smoke whirling, thrashing, gasping, gagging retch, stifled chuckle, pause, joints cracking, chuckle, hands dusting off leather, hands adjusting fabric] Thanks for the assist, Whore.
- Ruby: [scoff, chuckle] It's Ruby, now.
- Naamah: [footsteps] Is that so? [pause] Is that a mirror behind you?
- Ruby: What? [pause, feet shuffling] Oh, yeah... You need to take a gander at your new self? Go right ahead. I don't mind. [footsteps]
- Naamah: [footsteps] Ah, thank you... [pause, feet shuffling] Not bad... [feet shuffling] I can work with this. [feet shuffling, pause, fabric shifting] Oh, yes, this will do nicely... [chuckle, fabric shifting] What a lovely meat-suit I made, isn't it?
- Ruby: A little on the young side for my liking, but-
- Naamah: Oh, I needed her young. I'll age this body considerably with all the work I need to put in over the next few weeks.
- Ruby: I did notice there seems to be some sort of family reunion going on. Funny I didn't get an invite...
- Naamah: [scoff, chuckle] I know you too well. If we had invited you through the official channels, you wouldn't have come. [footsteps, door opens]
- Ruby: [footsteps] You're not wrong, but still I would've appreciated a heads up about what I was bringing the girl into. So where we going now?
- Naamah: [door closes, footsteps] I'm off to see my father. You can join me if you like or.. you can feel free to join in the fun.
