Biography[]

Unity Kinkaid: 1963 - 1981[]
Unity is the daughter of famed Gotham architect Fred Kinkaid and his wife Modesty Sixsmith, a Gotham socialite from a family that rapidly made and lost their fortune in the years following the two world wars. From a young age, Unity knew she was different than most other kids. She had vivid waking daydreams and could sense emotions as easily as she heard sounds or saw colors.
As her gifts grew, she realized she was also cursed with the ability to see ghosts and sense the growing madness that stirred in Gotham. This reached uncomfortable levels for Unity when she was seventeen and the city was gripped in riots after the deaths of Thomas and Martha Wayne.
Unity Kinkaid: 1981 - 1994[]
Graduating high school, Unity had learned to contain her gifts and chose to go to college out of state, eager to escape the madness of Gotham before it consumed her. She went to a liberal college, and majored in sociology and women's studies before she decided she was going to study psychiatry and sexual health.
Returning to Gotham to attend medical school at Gotham State, Unity was overwhelmed by the state of Gotham, having forgotten the intensity of the city's unsettling aura in her four years away. Unity did her best to ignore it, as her own mental illnesses beckoned her to embrace the call.
Unaware she was also a psychic Vortex, Unity became the target of three Endless. Dream kept his watchful gaze on her developing powers, Delirium tempted her to embrace the call of the Madness, and Desire took a personal interest in the young medical student.
Ultimately, Desire would claim Unity as their prize, having seduced her and conceiving two children with Unity under the pseudonym of Ezra Walker. The two married for a short while until Desire could identify that one of the children was a suitable candidate to inherit the Vortex entity from their mother at which point Desire left Unity and the children.
Unity quickly remarried, this time marrying Lazlo Valentin, one of her professors. The two had another child, Janosz Valentin, and they were happy for a while, despite Unity's inability to get a satisfying night's sleep since her first husband's departure.
Unity Kinkaid: 1994 - 2007[]
Unity's mental health rapidly declined after she finished medical school and began working at Arkham Asylum (before it became dedicated to the treatment of the criminally insane). Being surrounded by insanity only accelerated her decline into madness.
Unity spent the last six years of her life as a patient of Arkham after she nearly killed her son, Janosz, and herself in the midst of a waking nightmare. Her suffering would end when Dream silenced the Vortex entity inside her, killing Unity in the process.
Unity Kinkaid: 2016 - Present[]
After being dead for nearly a decade, Unity has been restored to life (now without her afflictions) due to the misadventures of her twin children, her daughter's girlfriend (me), and with a little help from Death.[1]

- (Submitted by Gremlin) Unity Kinkaid was killed in 2007 when Morpheus exterminated her Vortex Entity. She then went to Hell (apparently, she had the option to go to Heaven but bailed on that due to too many prudes) where her soul was sold off to Apokalypse. Unity's soul became the core personality of the "Grannybox" A.I. before she was rescued by yours truly and her twin kids.

- She met Desire in her dreams.
- Conception of Rose and Drury happened on the night of the Manhattaning and capture of Dream.
- She thinks she inherited her mental illness from both of her parents.
- She and Rose had a "chest bing", a gentler, sexier version of the 'chest bump'.
- The Dream Vortex which lived in her left her, and attached itself to Rose.
- Despite what Desire did she forgave them.[2]
- She become her nephews, Will Gorski, psychologist after he started acting out and calming he was seeing the ghost of his friend Sara Patrell. Will spent three years undergoing treatment with Unity — however, Will was still convinced he was seeing Sara. It's likely that Unity believed Will.[3]
- When she attacked Johnny he lost a portion of two fingers on his right hand and gave him severe PTSD.[4]
Death and After It[]
- She was buried on the family property.[5]
- When she died and went to hell her soul was kept in a dudgeon owned by a unknown demon with Charaxes as it caretaker. Her son Drury eventually found her there during his exploration of the cosmos, to save her he bought the dungeon off the demon along with Charaxes however Unity's soul didn't come with the purchase and before he could find something of equal value he could trade for his mother Charaxes had already sold her soul to Apokalypse.[6]
- The Fatherbox her soul resided in became the property of Granny Goodness.[7]
- When the demon Charaxes (who was possessing Drury) confronted Rose, Angie, and the Walkers in the Kinkaid House, she revealed herself to Charaxes to be revived as an angel working for the Monitor.[8] However, her efforts to stop Charaxes were thwarted when the Corinthian, who was possessing the body of her grandson Jack Walker, threatened to kill her granddaughter Kitten Walker. Unity was forced to surrender and she, Rose, and Angie Aimes were kidnapped by the two beings and taken to Hell.[9]

- She was raped by Desire of the Endless.
- Her daughter's name was Miranda. Rose was her granddaughter.
- Rose's brother was named Jed. In Earth-27, Jed is Drury Walker's middle name.
