Francisca Pizarro: 1541 - 1556[]

Francisca Pizarro never knew her father. She was told he died to protect her and her mother as they fled from men. Eventually, Francisca and her mother found their way to Themyscira where Menodora was sentenced to a penal colony for two-hundred years.

Skandalon: 1556 - 1591[]

Due to her less-than-stellar reputation and her behavior during her required warrior training, Francisca became known as Skandalon. Rather than becoming insulted, Francisca embraced it. Skandalon was fifty years old when she accepted a post as a sentry at the Themysciran penal colony in order to be allowed to see her mother regularly again.

Skandalon: 1591 - 1635[]

As a sentry, Skandalon oversaw her mother and other Amazons who were said to be miscreants or troublemakers, but Skandalon came to think of them more as kindred spirits. During this time, Skandalon was recalled to the capital city for training or to prepare to undergo the Rites of Hera, and she began to realize how little she enjoyed Amazonian life.

During her first trip to Man's World, Skandalon struggled with the task she was sent to perform. Her attempts at seducing men were clumsy on a good day and violent on her bad days. Skandalon had a lot of bad days.

Skandalon soon abandoned her intended mission and focused on investigating the Thirty Years' War which was ravaging Central Europe. This led to her fateful encounter with Jeanette Halmi - who she did manage to seduce. The two enjoyed an affair as Skandalon escorted her safely to Paris. After, Skandalon returned to riding the countryside to hone her martial skills against war-time bandits and plundering soldiers.

When it was time for Skandalon to return home, she made certain to stop by Jeanette's estate to say her farewells, but learned that Jeanette had been imprisoned after her husband caught her in bed with another woman. Skandalon rode to Paris, intent on breaking Jeanette out of prison and taking her back to Themyscira with her, but she arrived in time to see a crowd gathered for a public execution which was being botched to the utter glee of the crowd. By the time Skandalon got close enough to see it was Jeanette being executed, there was nothing that could be done.

Skandalon: 1625 - 1861[]

Skandalon returned to Themyscira broken. She also had an empty womb and no explanation. She was dismissed to return to her old post at the penal colony, and there found comfort in her mother's arms and wisdom. Skandalon would return to Man's World a number of other times when given the order, but she spent most of her time seeking out conflicts by day and pretty women by night. She also made a pilgrimage at the end of every visit to offer her apologies to the grave of Jeanette.

When Menodora's sentence was finished, Skandalon tried to become a temple guard, but she was denied as she had not passed her Rites of Hera. Skandalon volunteered for another attempt at the mating ritual.

While doing her best to focus on her mission in Boston, Skandalon found herself visited by a ghost from her past...[1]

Scandal Savage: 1861 - 1895[]

In 19th century America, on a mission of motherhood, Scandal found herself oddly determined to prove herself able to bear a child for Themyscira and finally elevate herself from Daughter of Themyscira to a Mother, a true citizen of the Paradise Islands. As she failed at all of her efforts to seduce men, Scandal decided getting herself employed at a brothel would be a foolproof solution to her problem.

But fate is such a fickle thing... Scandal finally prepared herself to accept this path, despite her lack of interest in men, but of all the houses of ill-repute in all the cities in the world that the Themysciran matrons could have sent her, Scandal chose the one brothel in Boston which had Jeanette Halmi as its madame. Scandal could not believe Jeanette was alive, but Jeanette could say the same about Scandal. Both took some convincing, but once they were both caught up to speed and out of breath, they decided that the gods or some other forces had brought both together again for a reason, so Scandal turned her back on Themyscira and became a true exoristos.

As Boston was becoming increasingly difficult a place to run a brothel and Scandal knew it was only a matter of time before her Amazonian sisters came looking for her, the two packed up shop and headed west. In Keystone City, the two found opportunity, until Nebraska became a state and with that came more structure, which impaired Jeanette and Scandal.

The two were able to live in Wyoming for a number of decades on the true frontier of the west. Jeanette ran a popular saloon and Scandal was able to scratch her itch for violence as a bounty hunter and even the deputy under a progressively-minded Sheriff Saunders.

During this time, Scandal also began having strange dreams of a scarred man she had never met before, but felt so strongly she shared a deep connection to him. Of course, Jeanette teased her about these dreams.

Scandal Savage: 1895 - 2007[]

When Jeanette decided to abandon the west when civilization finally came to the frontier, Scandal offered to go with her, but Jeanette only agreed to have a travelling companion if their first destination was the Paradise Islands. Scandal reluctantly agreed and the two slipped into Themyscira on a stormy night. Scandal told her mother that she still lived but had chosen to live her own life.

She received her mother's blessing but also was told of her mother's dreams, dreams which Scandal herself had shared. This is when her mother told her that the man was Scandal's father. Menodora told her daughter that the dreams must mean he still lived. Suddenly, Scandal and Jeanette's global journey had a purpose. But before they left, Scandal stole herself some weapons from the Themysciran reliquary.

After decades, Scandal's search for her father and Jeanette's path of self-discovery diverged. The two parted ways with a gentle kiss.

Scandal Savage: 2007 - Present[]

In 2007, while working as a Kasnian mercenary, she was contacted by "Mockingbird" and recruited into the Secret Six. This unit introduced her to the loves of her life and even brought her face-to-face with her father...[2]

Supplemental Reports[]

  • (Submitted by Four-Eyes) The Lamentation Blades were once part of the armor known as the Suit of Sorrows, but were forcibly removed from the armor by an Amazonian exile with the Demon Knights in 1461. The blades were taken back to Themyscira by the exile on accident. Themysciran artificers repaired the blades and stabilized their magic.
  • (Submitted by Oracle) For most, Scandal tends to come across as distant and standoffish, only allowing herself to be vulnerable with close friends. Much of this is a deliberate attempt to exercise self-control over the dark passions she inherited from her father. When her loved ones are endangered, Scandal has little ability to control herself. During such times, it is very easy for her emotions to boil over into a rage and not come out of it for hours or even days. Such emotional outbursts are often followed by a long period of depressive regret and more violent outbursts. This sort of behavior can last days, weeks, or even months.
  • (Submitted by Oracle) Scandal has always been a prominent member of most iterations of the Secret Six ever since she first joined the roster in 2007. Notably, she returned from her only absence to join Card Queen in breaking four of Scandal's past teammates out of Arkham to make the Six who rescued Emily Nashton. She now works as the team's unofficial leader.

Key Affiliations[]

  • Secret Six: Scandal is more devoted to the longevity of the Six than any of its other members, even possibly more so than its new Mockingbird.
  • Knockout: Scandal is married to the Apokalyptan exile Kaye Ou. The two are completely devoted to each other.
  • Mockingbird: Scandal is also married to Emily Nashton, the Secret Six's newest manager and coordinator.
  • Jeanette Halmi: Scandal is a former lover of Jeanette, but their current relationship, while intense, is platonic.
  • Vandal Savage: Scandal and Vandal have an estranged relationship - and that is putting it mildly.
  • Amazons: While Scandal respects her mother and lives by many Themysciran values, she cannot abide living in their structured society or following their lifestyle.

Threat Assessment[]

Resources[]

  • Amazonian Demigoddess Physiology: As the granddaughter of Apollo, Scandal has abilities which exceed even those of the typical Amazon. As an Amazonian warrior, Scandal has also undertaken rites which have brought out the most of her dormant power.
    • Enhanced Senses and Insight: Scandal has sharper senses than most. Her senses also extend to esoteric, giving her remarkable intuition.
    • Terraphilic Healing: Granted to all Amazons by Demeter, Scandal can increase her healing rates by engaging in an Amazonian ritual where she applies soil to her wounds (for mild injuries) or gives herself to the soil (for more extensive injuries). This same blessing also gives Scandal an incredible immunity from poisons, toxins, as well as disease.
  • Meta-Magnon Physiology: As the daughter of Vandal Savage, Scandal has inherited some of her father's own abilities which compliments her divine heritage.
    • Enhanced Reflexes and Speed: Scandal is incredible fast and agile. She can dodge bullets, run up short walls, and maneuver herself with ease.
    • Enhanced Strength and Resilience: Scandal is stronger than she looks. She can lift three times her body weight and she has taken multiple rifle rounds to her chest while keeping herself on her feet and in the battle.
    • Immortality and Regenerative Healing: Unlike Vandal's other children, Scandal seems to have inherited her father's difficulty to succumbing to death. She can "die," but like her father, death never really seems to stick. She claims to have dug herself out of more than a dozen graves.
  • Expert Leader and Strategist: Scandal has proven herself to be a capable field commander for the Six.
  • Legendary Martial Artist, Knife-Fighter, and Fencer; Master Markswoman and Archer: Scandal is considered to be a world-class fighter in terms of raw talent, though she relies on her powers and ignores the fundamentals. She also prefers to train in the use of all weapons rather than strictly focusing on a few particular disciplines.
  • Master Sailor, Navigator, Equestrian, Driver, and Pilot: Scandal has lived many lives and mastered many trades - many dealing with travel. She is a great sailor, navigator, equestrian, driver, and pilot.
  • Master Infiltrator: Scandal is an expert of stealth, disguise, seduction (with women), and other methods of infiltrating places restricted to her.
  • Multilingualism: Scandal also claims to know twenty-seven languages.
  • Lamentation Blades: The Lamentation Blades are also known as the Laminas Pesar. These gauntlet mounted blades have the ability to slide out through mental trigger of their master (even if not currently wearing them). The blades steal a portion of the soul of anyone they cut, leaving a curse of sorrow in their place. Weak-willed persons who survive a cut from the Laminas Pesar often end their lives weeks later, seeking an end to their misery. She can also use the Laminas Pesar to deflect bullets.

Weaknesses[]

  • Vulnerable to Adamant & Piercing Weapons: Like other Amazons, Scandal's resilience does little to stop piercing weapons. Her Olympian heritage make her susceptible to Adamant weapons.
  • "Dark Passions": Scandal also suffers from dark impulses when she's emotional.

Missing Data

Notes[]

  • Her portrait is based on her appearance in the post-Crisis continuity.
  • In the comics her mother was an unnamed Brazilian woman.
  • Roy on her relationship with Liana Kerzner: "In Earth-27, I suppose the character Liana Kerzner doesn't exist. Knockout has been given her name as a civilian/Earth name and Emily Nashton has replaced Liana's role as a love interest to both Scandal and Knockout. You may wonder why I did this. First, I felt Emily had more potential to show up in VOX Boxes and it gave her more of a connection to her team. Second, it allowed me to make my own unique spin on the Six even more cemented. Third, it kept the Six from overflowing with red heads (not that I don't love redheads). Fourth, it made the threesome more fearsome to have the fierce warrior, the brawny beauty, and the smart cookie all part of their trinity rather than having one be the definite weak link in the chain with no real skills except being a decent dancer. Fifth, I didn't see anybody jumping to sponsor Liana. So, if someone sponsors Liana does that mean we'll retcon this? No. I don't think so. If someone really, really wants to see Liana and sponsors her, then I've got a trick up my sleeve to bring her into the mix without having to reboot anything."
  • Before release Scandal Savage was supposed to be part of the League of Assassins. Her alias was Julianna Teach, named after Edward Teach, aka the pirate Blackbeard (one of Vandal Savage's identities).
  • Her birthdate is the day Francisco Pizzaro died.
