- Lyla Michaels: This is ARGUS Intelligence interview number six-five-two-nine. i am the interviewer, Chief Lyla Michaels, speaking with Arkham Asylum Patient seven-eight-three-eight-three, Nyssa al Ghul. Time is thirteen-sixteen. Beginning now, Nyssa al Ghul, how old are you?
- Nyssa al Ghul: Hard to say?
- Lyla Michaels: And why is that?
- Nyssa al Ghul: Because looks can be deceiving.
- Lyla Michaels: How so?
- Nyssa al Ghul: I have seen empires rise and fall. I have given birth to sons that I buried after they died as old men. I have known more lovers than you have known people, chief Michaels... and yet, I look half your age. [chuckle, loud chuckling, laughter, raucous laughter]
- Lyla Michaels: [hand slapping table] Stay focused, Nyssa. How old are you?
- Nyssa al Ghul: I will turn three-hundred in a decade or two. Why bother counting?
- Lyla Michaels: Why so cryptic with your response?
- Nyssa al Ghul: I have lived long enough to know that information is power. If you know the exact circumstances and time of my birth, you know where to start looking for more information about me. Then you start to see my patterns, start assessing my behavior, predicting my actions- Wait, do you smell apricots?
- Lyla Michaels: That sounds like paranoia, Nyssa. I do not think anyone can predict your actions.
- Nyssa al Ghul: [sniff] No, that's bleach. Anyway, [chuckle] that's not true. Your friend could predict my actions. I know he is watching.
- Lyla Michaels: [button clicked on recording device] What are you doing? We agreed no "Oliver talk"... to protect Connor.
- Nyssa al Ghul: [chuckle] I'm not talking about Oliver... or even Sara. No, I'm talking about the Monitor, Lyla... or should I call you "Harbinger"? Hmm?
- Lyla Michaels: What are you talking about? Wait... are you behind the phone calls? Is that what this is? Tell me! [hand slapping table] Nyssa, what do you know?
- Nyssa al Ghul: Loneliness plus alienation plus fear plus despair plus self-worth divided by mockery divided by condemnation divided by... something. [sigh] No... lost it. I'm getting closer, though, aren't I? I wonder. Can you feel it, too? Can you feel his presence nearing, Lyla? I do. [chuckle, laughter] That is what I know.
- Lyla Michaels: This interview is over. Guards!
