Biography[]

(Submitted by Mento)

Background[]

After our marriage, Rita and I each brought an adopted child into our relationship. Shortly after we left the Doom Patrol, Rita and I became interested in having a child of our own. However, the two of us had assumed that a natural pregnancy would be impossible due to Rita's unique physiology.

Not one to accept defeat so easily, I began working toward finding a means by which Rita and I could conceive a child. However, my early experiments were all for naught as before I had a solid plan to test, Rita became strangely ill. After a psychic exam, I found a second psychic signal coming from Rita, much weaker than her own. I soon deduced it was the developing mind of our unborn child.

Holly Dayton: 2007 - Present[]

After a short three-month pregnancy, our unborn entered into an accelerated growth spurt. The child began to absorb her mother's mass. Rita's body began an act of mitosis. When the two masses had finished their division, one quickly took human form and solidified.

While a weakened Rita was still reshaping, the spitting image of her seven-year-old self scrambled to a nearby corner in a frightened panic. Using my helmet, I assessed that this girl had no individual memories before this moment, but did have fractured memories from both Rita and I — memories she had absorbed from us while she was in the womb.

Using my powers, I was able to calm my daughter. Rita and I named her Holly. I spent the next year giving her a psionic cocktail of positive childhood memories to build a solid foundation of moral lessons, mental development, and personality shaping. These sessions were conducted beside ongoing lessons of a more typical parental structure. During this time, it was also discovered that Holly inherited a small portion of each of her parents' metahuman abilities, making her a psychically sensitive organic mass but without her mother's ability to alter her shape.

By her first birthday, Holly was able to begin attending classes with other students. However, within a month of classes among typical students, Holly reported having strange physical sensations corresponding to emotional outbursts from her classmates. Due to Holly's unique physiology, her physique and brain tissue were intertwined. This caused her form to seize up or break down if overly stimulated by emotions around her. Holly was pulled from school and homeschooled for a time.

Eventually, Rita and I moved our school to Danny the Street. Holly was the biggest catalyst for this move as we felt the environment on Danny would help Holly to avoid large gatherings that would overwhelm her and should anything go wrong, she would be surrounded by individuals who would be more accepting and tolerant of her unusual nature.

Holly adapted well to the move. She became quick friends with Danny. As long as Holly was on Danny the Street, she could always focus on his emotional output to give her some anchor to help her focus on if she ever felt overwhelmed. The technique paid off and Holly flourished.

I have no doubts that Holly will, at the very least, grow into a confident young woman able to control her powers to live a relatively normal life. Well, maybe not normal but what does that even mean anymore?

Supplemental Reports[]

  • (Submitted by Herald) Holly is a great kid. She is responsible, charismatic, funny, smart, kind, loving, goofy, and beautiful. She has an outdated taste in music, being obsessed with music from the mid-sixties to the mid-eighties. Her sense of style seems to compliment that too. It's not a problem. I think it suits her, but it is definitely a quirky thing for a modern-day teen girl.
  • (Submitted by Chief) Margarita Farr and Steven Dayton — a woman of unlimited physical potential and a man with a truly resourceful mind! An improbable union to be sure, but one able to produce a truly fascinating offspring! To both the naked eye and the atomic microscope, Holly is a physical clone of her mother. However, while her unique physical matter is 99.27% identical to her mother's, Holly lacks the activated metagene which allows her mother the ability to alter that mass however she wants. Instead, Holly's metagene triggered to find an alternative means to manipulate her mass — based on her father's psionic potential. It is my theory that Dayton's use of telepathic probes on his unborn child may have registered as a threat, which caused the metagene to activate while still in utero — possibly resulting in the sudden rapid growth of the child.[1]
