Biography[]

Background: Mythic Age[]

Following the defeat of the Titans, the new Olympian Regime was eager to make allies to secure their footing. As Queen of Olympus and the Goddess of Unions, Hera was the primary point of contact for such diplomatic efforts. One day, the Archangel Michael came to the Olympian Court to offer such an alliance. Hera heard his offer and agreed that the Olympians would not interfere with the Presence's efforts to establish a foothold across the sea. To cement this agreement, the archangel and goddess engaged in an intimate ritual in which Hera was endowed with supernal charged worship. Upon completion of the ritual, Hera was impregnated.

Angelia: Mythic Age - Prehistory[]

A daughter was born of Hera and given the name Angelia, but known mostly by the epithet Heraphon (meaning "Voice of Hera"). Due to her having wings, Heraphon felt most comfortable in the presence of the four winged gods of Olympus, Zeus' throneguard: Nike, Bia, Cratus, and Zelos. When she was older, Hera would convince her husband to not only name Heraphon to his throneguard but appoint her as their commander.

Upon her appointment, Heraphon was bestowed with a trophy of the defeat of the Titans, the Pillar of the East, a weapon once wielded by the Titan Hyperion. Heraphon was also given a signet ring, the Ring of the Essomancer, as proof of her place among the throneguard. Though Heraphon was given these trophies and honors, she did not receive the respect she felt she deserved from her half-siblings and the other Olympians.

Heraphon demanded she be given an endowment of Titanic essence and receive the proper title of goddess with a purview. She also insisted that she be acknowledged as a proper Princess of Olympus. However, as she was born not from Zeus and her place among their pantheon was temporary by the arrangement Hera made with Michael, the Council of Twelve was hesitant to grant such requests. Without a majority in support and with Zeus firmly opposed to such measures, Heraphon's goals were impossible to meet, but still she continued to try.

Heraphon: Prehistory - 30 CE[]

After many rejections, even Hera tried to convince her daughter to drop the matter. However, Heraphon would not cease and only grew more angered by the Twelve's refusal to give in to her demands. In a particularly heated argument, Heraphon took a step forward and pointed her spear at the King and Queen of Olympus. Ares and Athena got up from their thrones with weapons drawn, ready to cut Heraphon down. Heraphon mocked the gods of war for their devotion to their parents. When Zeus called for order, Heraphon mocked him and letting his anger get the best of him, Zeus descended from his throne to stand before Heraphon with a glare that crackled of electric rage.

Yet, Heraphon was not frightened and stood her ground, continuing to insult the King of the Olympians — even challenging him to combat. Heraphon's reasoning was that the God of Kings needed a throneguard as he lacked the ability to defend himself, but Heraphon had forgotten the god had personally fell Titans in the past. When the clashes between the Pillar of the East and the Thunderbolt had finished, Angelia lay burned and bleeding, with her grace exposed and damaged by the abundant storm essence dealt to her by Zeus' strikes.

Rushing to her daughter's side, Hera chastised Zeus for being so aggressive. She begged him to call for Asclepius to attend to her daughter's mortal injuries, but Zeus commanded the gods to remain where they were as he addressed them all about Heraphon's actions being proof that the alliance between the Olympians and the Heavenly Host needed to be voided. A vote was called for and the motion passed.

Only after the meeting concluded was Heraphon taken from the throne room, carried away by Hermes after Zeus commanded him to take Heraphon to the Underworld so Hades could prepare the proper burial rites. Though Hermes did as instructed, Hades did not prepare the burial rites as Heraphon managed to survive, though in the process, she was reborn.

In the course of their recovery in the Underworld, Heraphon became a male and took on the new name Angelos — having instinctively taken advantage of the angelic power of rebirth to survive his grievous injuries. But in the Underworld he would remain as Zeus banished them from the Olympian Court, leaving him to claim sanctuary among the Stygian Court or risk absolute exile.

Eventually, after many centuries of service to Hades and Persephone, Heraphon was pardoned and allowed to enter Heaven once again. By then, the Olympians had also underwent a change of identity in pursuit of survival, now going by Roman names. But Heraphon's pardon did not restore their previous titles and to earn those back, Heraphon was given a mission.

Longinus: 30 - Present[]

Taking on a mortal identity as a Roman officer named Longinus, Heraphon's test of loyalty required him to travel to Jerusalem to investigate the ministry of a Planetary Shaman. He submitted regular reports on the miracles performed by the shaman. After several years of surveillance, Heraphon received word to kill the shaman, but by the time the letter reached him, Heraphon had discovered that the shaman and he were related.

As Heraphon struggled with this decision, he was part of the Roman soldiers who arrested the shaman. Ultimately, Heraphon and the Roman governor overseeing the trial decided that the shaman did not deserve death, but mob rule overrode their wishes and the shaman was tortured. The final torture and chosen method of execution was the Roman custom of crucifixion. When most had grown tired of seeing the shaman suffer and departed the hill, Heraphon came forward with his spear and ended his kin's suffering — at which point, he cast off the head of the bloodied spear and cast it aside out of rage for what he felt he had been forced to do.

Having completed his assignment, having killed the shaman, Heraphon could return to the Olympians but instead he chose to spread his wings and ascended to the Silver City. Confessing what part he had played in the death of the shaman, Heraphon expected punishment but his father Michael welcomed him and quickly named his son as a rightful Prince of Heaven and gave him command of the Eagle Host of Pax Dei.

To this day, Heraphon remains the commander of the Eagle Host, overseeing the most important missions and reporting only to his father.[1]

Resources[]

  • Angelic Throne Physiology
    • Cosmic Awareness: Heraphon's senses are cosmically attuned, which allows him to see the unseen, hear transmitted frequencies, and retain his knowledge of the Tapestry and the Construct.
    • Dimensional Shifting: Heraphon can go nearly everywhere he has a need to be, provided he has a right to be there.
    • Empathy: In a duel with Zeus, Heraphon was electrocuted and left nearly dead. When it looked like they would not survive the night in the Underworld, Hermes claimed the Ring of the Essomancer from Heraphon's hand and returned it to Olympus. However, after their recovery by way of rebirth, Heraphon discovered he had internalized the power of the ring after having syphoned some of its essence to stave off death. He now has the ability to connect with others and share their emotions and pain. He can also manipulate others' emotions by projecting his own emotions or pain upon others.
    • Energy Projection: Heraphon can project supernal power from his palm to smite his enemies.
    • Enhanced Physicality: Heraphon is a powerful being whose strength, speed, durability, stamina, reflexes, coordination, and all other physical attributes exceed the possibilities of mortal beings.
    • Healing Touch: By channeling supernal power through his hands, Heraphon can restore the health of another by touch.
    • Immortality: Heraphon is not subject to disease or aging.
    • Linguistic Instinct: Heraphon can read, write, and understand all languages, including Enochian. He can also make himself understood to all who hear his voice, regardless of which language he is actually speaking.
    • Nigh-Invulnerability: Heraphon is nearly immune to all known conventional weapons.
    • Telepathy: Heraphon can communicate with others by means of psychic channels. He can also alter or erase memories, read thoughts, cause mass confusion, or cause people to see or hear convincing illusions.
    • Teleportation: With his supernal wings spread, Heraphon can teleport from one place to another almost instantly.
    • Winged Flight: Heraphon can also fly using his wings and can reach supersonic speeds using this method if he wishes.
  • Pillar of the East: The weapon once used by the Titan Hyperion. This weapon was once a spear and was used to end the suffering of a Planetary Shaman. Disgusted by the sight of the blood on its blade, Heraphon removed the spearhead and left it behind at Golgotha. The spearhead was recovered and eventually became known as the Spear of Destiny.

Weaknesses[]

  • Guilt-Driven Sense of Duty: Heraphon was humbled by Zeus which drove him to prove himself to earn his way back into the good graces of the Olympians. This only caused him to inadvertently betray the interests of his father's family. Disgusted by himself, Heraphon now strives to continually prove his devotion to the Presence, his father, Pax Dei, the Eagle Host, and the rest of the Kingdom of Heaven.
  • Vice — Pride: Despite his personal humility, Heraphon remains a deeply proud individual. Though his pride is no longer personal, he expresses potent pride concerning Michael, the Eagle Host, Pax Dei, and the rest of the Heavenly Host — in roughly that order of importance. If any of those are insulted in his presence, Heraphon is prone to becoming hostile, perhaps even violent.

Trivia and Notes[]

Trivia[]

  • Sandalphon is his friend and accomplice.[2]
  • He has a good relationship with Sachiel. Sometimes he seeks out his counsel.[3]
  • The Seraph called Castiel grew less militaristic with every century that passed. Heraphon could not order him to reconditioning as he was a highly regarded Hero of the Host and also possessed a Virtued grace. With the planned birth of a prophet, Heraphon convinced Michael to command Castiel to become the guardian angel of the prophet. This would prevent Castiel from influencing other Seraphim of the Eagle Host with his peculiar philosophies and curious compassion.[4]
  • When he took command of the Eagle Host, he tracked down Zauriel and compelled him to return to the Eagle Host. Zauriel did so but stressed that his sword would only draw blood in defense of innocents.[5]
  • Heraphon and the rest of the Thrones along with the Pax Dei betrayed the parents exiling them from Heaven and making Wally the new King of Heaven.[6]
