Chad Fuller: 1985 - 2000[]

Chad is the son of a carpenter and a housewife. He had a pretty normal childhood until at the age of twelve he witnessed his mother being absorbed into what he described as a "mudman." His father and "mother" tried to assure Chad he had a nightmare, but he could not be convinced and when therapy failed he was heavily medicated.

Chad Fuller: 2000 - 2003[]

Under the effects of his medication, Chad was struggling in school, and eventually it was decided to remove him from school and have him work at his father's carpentry shop instead. When Chad wasn't working, he was staying with his deadbeat friends or listening to music in his room. Anything to avoid confronting his "mother."

Chad Fuller: 2003 - 2007[]

When Chad's "mother" ran out on the family, Chad began to relax. As an adult, he decided to stop taking his medication. When his father found out that Chad was off his meds, the two got into an argument that turned violent. After that incident, Chad quit his job and moved out.

Chad eventually ended up working in the movie industry as a set builder. He befriended a special effects engineer, Ron Alexander, and the two became close friends and drinking buddies. When Ron was fired, Chad quit his job as a show of solidarity. He eventually found employment as a janitor for Seaview University. It was there that Chad tried pot for the first time. After catching some college kids getting high in the bathroom, Chad confiscated their joint and on a whim decided to take a hit. Chad felt he had found the thing he had been missing his whole life.

Chad Fuller: 2007 - 2010[]

Bad news came when Chad's "mother" had been found in Gotham City as one of the incorporated victims of the gestalt entity Clayface. Chad flew out with his father and brother to Gotham during the restructuring to confront Clayface at Arkham Asylum. During the visit, Clayface took the form of Sondra Fuller and told Chad and his brother they were loved. Unable to deal with this, Chad walked out of the arranged meeting and got a cab. He had no idea where he was going and after being dropped off at the bus depot, Chad ended up in Gateway City.

High as a kite most of the time, Chad bounced from job to job, including a handyman at an all-girl's school in Oakhaven - but that job didn't last long. He landed back on his feet and spent a year living solely off gig work doing all manner of strange things. While working as a stage technician for a festival, Chad met the Hex Girls. He was drawn to them as he felt they looked familiar. After hearing them play, Chad became their biggest fan and their first roadie (as well as a backup musician for rehearsals).

Chad Fuller: 2010 - 2011[]

After the Hex Girls got their record deal, Chad decided he was weighing them down, and he said goodbye in Star City. He went back to his favorite bar for old times' sake and bumped into Ron who was planning a revenge scheme against the Ghostbusters. Over drinks, Ron offered Chad a job.[1]

Chad Fuller: 2011 - 2013[]

With the Ghost Smashers out of business and Chad out of a job, he went on a "sabbatical" to Europe for a year or so, before events brought him back to Star City where he landed his old job at Seaview University again.

Chad Fuller: 2013[]

Poached from his job at Seaview University, Chad Fuller came to work for the Ghostbusters for a slight increase in pay. He was given a one-week training period as a reserve Ghostbuster as had the other two technical apprentices hired shortly before him. After his training was complete, Chad went to work doing maintenance and janitorial work on the old Firehouse. Always eager to lend a hand in exchange for conversation, Chad would even help the other technical apprentices with their cleaning related work - Chad did not mind cleaning the burnt residue of ectoplasm from the traps with Bryan or scrubbing slime out of the upholstery of Ecto-1; in fact, Chad found it favorable over cleaning up after "entitled brats" at the university.

Chad Fuller: 2013 - 2014[]

When the Firehouse exploded, Chad was off the clock and out for drinks with some friends. When all Hell broke loose a few hours later, Chad was hammered. He was found passed out in the Ecto-2 by his fellow rookie, Bryan Welsh, who brought the hungover Chad with him to help the third rookie, Maddie Collins, deal with a bust of a demon.

When Chad sobered up, he joined the Ghostbusters at their temporary base of operations (Ray's Occult Books) and proved crucial to helping them turn the bookstore into a command post, makeshift lab, and rudimentary barracks. Chad even helped Ray and Egon finalize the work on the Ecto-2's mobile containment unit which served as the team's only containment unit for the duration of Hell on Earth.

When things began to return to normal, the Ghostbusters landed a big city contract to oversee the removal of residual paranormal entities from the city. Chad helped Star City and the Ghostbusters' new benefactor, Louis Tully, find the team a suitable replacement to their blown up base. When the team found an existing, brand-new firehouse which could be renovated to suit their needs, Queen Consolidated stepped in to pick up the check and invested in the Ghostbusters' need for extra staff.

Chad Fuller: 2014 - Present[]

Chad continues to work with the Ghostbusters. Due to the larger size of the new facility and the increased staff, Chad rarely gets out into the field. Be he does not mind that at all. Wrangling Slimer when the green ghost gets in one of his moods keeps Chad's busting skills from going rusty. Still, if he's up-to-date on his duties and a crew needs an extra proton wand, Chad never hesitates to drop his mop and grab his pack.

When Chad isn't sweeping the garage, washing windows, laundering uniforms, or stocking the fridge with beer and junk food, you can usually find him hanging around Slimer's containment unit venting about his life's problems. If he's not there, try looking for him down at the Skara Brae bar where he and Ron like to hustle drunks at billiards.[2]

Supplemental Reports[]

  • (Submitted by GothGurl) Chad is a fan of science fiction television series, especially those involving parallel dimensions. His all-time favorite is "Slippers" about a young inventor and his misfit friends who end up 'slipping' from one dimension to another with the help of a malfunctioning invention hoping that they'll eventually 'slip' back home. Chad references this all the time.
  • (Submitted by Four-Eyes) Chad has had quite a few supernatural encounters prior to working for the Ghost Smashers and the Ghostbusters. It is possible that the trauma he experienced in his childhood opened his mind to accepting the strange truth of the world, allowing him to glimpse beyond the veil. Chas has used drugs both to enhance and suppress this occult perception. While touring with the Hex Girls (both in 2010-2011 and again during their European Touring of 2011-2013 - which is where I met him), Chad used African Dream Root to Lucid Dream with the Witches of Oakhaven for some literally trippy adventures and even got to meet their Mistress of the Dark. Since joining the Ghostbusters, Chad's experience with the supernatural has only increased exponentially, and he's become quite the unlikely expert on all manner of odd niches of occult lore.
  • (Submitted by TurtleGurl84) Who's ready for trivia about Chad?! I am!
    • Chad doesn't have a driver's license. He never learned how to drive.
    • Chad claims he's a pacifist, but appears to make an exception for ghosts, demons, paranormal pests, when he's drunk, and Ron (when Ron's drunk).
    • He is a member of the Villa Park Drum Circle. They meet on Thursdays.

Key Affiliations[]

  • Ghostbusters: Chad was hired as a handyman and custodian to give regular maintenance to the aging firehouse which served as the Ghostbuster' original headquarters. After the destruction of the original base, Chad worked with Star City to find a suitable building as a replacement and expansion to the business. Though some see this guy as the Ghostbusters' janitor, he is a bit more than that and knows how to sling protons just as well as any other full-fledged Ghostbuster.
  • Bryan Welsh & Maddie Collins: Chad is very close with these two. The three were hired around the same time and were bunked together in the basement of the original Firehouse. Even today, the three remain close.
  • Ron Alexander: Ron and Chad have been drinking buddies for a long time. Chad's one of Ron's few friends.

Threat Assessment[]

Resources[]

  • Custodial Expertise: Chad is an all-around exceptional custodian and handyman.
    • Carpentry: Raised by a carpenter, Chad learned this trade from his father. At one point, as a teen, Chad had planned to make this his profession.
    • Construction: Chad knows how to swing a hammer or turn a wrench. He has considerable experience working in construction.
    • Custodial Arts: As mentioned before, Chad is an exceptional custodian. He takes pride in his work and his attention to detail even impresses neat freaks like Egon Spengler who considers Chad's work cleaning the lab to be 'most impressive.'
    • Electrical Technician: Chad knows how to solder and run interior wiring. He also knows his way around most of the Ghostbusters' simpler equipment. He won't bother trying to fix malfunctioning proton packs or muon traps, but he'll take apart a glitchy radio to fix it.
    • Gardener: Chad has a knack for cultivating, tending, and trimming plants. He, along with others, was a big proponent for the new Ghostbusters HQ to have a rooftop garden.
    • Mechanic: Chad can perform general maintenance and basic repairs on cars, but outside of helping Maddie change tires and the like, he prefers to stick to washing them instead.
  • Criminal Connections: Before cannabis was legalized in Oregon, Chad used various less-than-legal sources to acquire his weed. For a time, it seems that Chad also worked as a dealer or grower... or both. Granted his contacts are not hardened criminals, but he might know a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy. You know how it is.
  • Music: Chad knows how to perform with a variety of musical instruments. He can play guitar, piano, drums, harmonica, and trumpet. He claims he picked up these skills while touring with a musical group.
  • New Age Philosophy: Chad subscribes to an eclectic range of folk philosophies, religious creeds, and spiritual ideologies. While he does not fully adhere to any one specific doctrine, he is fairly well-versed in the various practices and beliefs. He tends to take an à la carte approach to spirituality, extracting the wisdom baked into these various views. At times, this has given Chad a certain level of unexpected wisdom to dispense upon others.
  • Odd Jobs: Chad has an... interesting professional history. He claims to have been all over the globe. Prior to landing with the Ghostbusters, he made a wide array of strange friends (in terms of being both "unexpected" and/or just being plain weird) from all various corners of life.
  • Dumb Luck: Not sure how to quantify this, but in all seriousness, Chad has great karma or just an insane amount of good luck. The guy stumbles into success and good fortune without ever trying.
