Irwin Schwab: 1982 - 1987[]
Irwin was born in New York City, not far from Broadway. He was four years old when the bomb went off. His family then moved to Metropolis.
Irwin Schwab: 1987 - 1999[]
Irwin did poorly in school. He had no friends. His grades were abysmal. He misbehaved. This continued until high school. At the age of sixteen, Irwin moved out of his home and worked at a video rental store.
Irwin Schwab: 1999 - 2003[]
BRUM-EL OF THE PLANET SCHWAB SENT HIS CLOTHES FROM HIS SUPPOSEDLY DOOMED PLANET, HOPING THAT HIS WARDROBE WOULD SURVIVE, ONLY TO HAVE IT INTERCEPTED BY A GIANT RADIOACTIVE SPACE SPIDER. IN THE RESULTING CRASH INTO IRWIN SCHWAB'S APARTMENT, ONLY TWO ARTICLES OF CLOTHING SURVIVED: THE AMBUSH BUG SUIT, CLAIMED BY IRWIN SCHWAB, AND ARGH!YLE!, A SENTIENT ARGYLE SOCK WITH A METAL MASK. NO WORD ON THE GIANT RADIOACTIVE SPIDER.
After trashing his apartment in a fit of frustration over his unfulfilling life, Irwin put on a green suit and became a bank robber known as Ambush Bug. He was fairly harmless but proved completely impossible to catch. For whatever reason, after an encounter with Superman, Ambush Bug ended up turning all the money back in (EXCEPT FOR $4.75 WHICH AN EVIL VENDING MACHINE ATE) and decided to become Superman's self appointed sidekick instead of an evildoer.
The Man of Steel and the Bug didn't exactly work out but Superman convinced Ambush Bug that if he really wanted to be a hero, he'd have to atone for his wrongdoings and face punishment for the banks he robbed, so the Bug did just that, turning himself into the Metropolis PD. When asked by Detective Sawyer if he was crazy, Bug is said to have replied "That's a good point. I might be." and then promptly teleported himself to the patient processing center at Arkham Asylum for admittance.
Irwin Schwab: 2003 - 2009[]

Sure enough, Ambush Bug failed every test they gave him, even a blood test (wait, that can't be right) and was admitted... for all of three weeks. Those three weeks just happened to have been when the Joker was undergoing experimental hypnotic treatment that had promising results, which this pest had to interfere with by teleporting into Joker's cell one night. What Bug did exactly, we'll never know, but Joker was recorded as having been discovered crying the next morning.
One morning, Ambush Bug teleported into the middle of a staff meeting to say he was cured before teleporting off to parts unknown. He mostly settled into life on Danny the Street, where he asserted himself as a reserve member of the Doom Patrol. According to John and Hal, he also ended up on Oa for a while, applying to the Lantern Corps. He was rejected, of course, but tried to start his own Corps.
Irwin Schwab: 2009[]
When he came back to Earth, he applied to be considered for the 2009 recruits to the Justice League. Elastic Woman gave him a Junior League card from the Hall of Justice Gift Shop to get rid of him. It didn't work.[1]

- (Submitted by Gremlin) Irwin and I go back to 2014 when he showed up to help me and Ellie move into our new Gotham apartment. He was dressed up in his weird green suit and kept calling me "sis," but he was also wearing a mover's coveralls so I just assumed he was an eccentric moving guy. It was not until we were half done that Greg showed up and wondered why Irwin was around that I became alarmed. The Bug teleported away but has shown up many times since, claiming to be my long lost brother.

- Ambush Bug was one of the scouts sent to travel through the Bleed and investigate the Multiverse by the Monitor.

- Ambush Bug is known to break the fourth wall in Earth-27, showing self awareness in VOX Boxes and even having his own DeviantArt account to comment on the articles and deviations in which he is featured. If he learns this article exists on the wiki he might also show up here.
